Achieving in Higher Education (AHEADD)
Our AHEADD Student Support Specialists offer coaching and support to students in managing the transition to college and the demands associated with this change, in disclosing their diagnosis or learning difference to peers and other college supports, in developing a schedule and time management strategies to manage academic obligations, and to understand, navigate, and balance the academic and social demands of college.
AHEADD students will be coached and supported in setting and achieving academic and personal goals, advocating for themselves, utilizing campus and community resources, managing academic and personal responsibilities, and in developing healthy habits and relationships.
AHEADD Student Support Sessions
During a session, students will be provided on-going support in addressing the personal and academic goals established at the beginning of each semester to ensure that the student in content with their overall quality of life and to increase academic and personal accountability. The frequency and schedule of sessions are based on individualized needs to best support the student’s schedule.
AHEADD sessions can include:
Outside of scheduled sessions, AHEADD Student Support Specialists regularly liaise with the student, family, and other identified team members regarding the development and implementation of accommodations and progress regarding established goals.
