Tina Desport, MSW, Outpatient Clinical Supervisor, FBR New Kensington Clinic

Tina Desport has been working for Family Behavioral Resources for over two years.  Currently, she is the Outpatient Clinical Supervisor of the New Kensington Outpatient Clinic.  She holds a Masters of Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh and finished all but her dissertation in her Doctorate of Curriculum and Instruction in Elementary Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Tina brings over 16 years of experience in the field serving as an Acute Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Therapist, a Mobile and Outpatient Therapist, a Teaching Associate at Indiana University of PA, a Behavioral Health and Mental Retardation Case Manager, a Therapeutic Staff Support, a Job Coach, a Consultation & Training Specialist, a Residential Program Worker, and a Summer Camp Director.  Additionally, she has presented at four national conferences in various states.

One of Tina’s passions is the process of collaboration and its impact on the academic progress, social skills, and successful inclusion of children with exceptionalities.  She is also interested in the interplay of interprofessional and intraprofessional collaboration as an essential mechanism for professionals educating students with disabilities as well as the advantages and disadvantages of including students with disabilities in general education classrooms.

Tina is also passionate about helping individuals with mental health needs achieve recovery as defined by them.  Her goal is not to fit individuals into a defined program, but develop programs and approaches that meet individual needs.  Her therapy approach is person centered and her therapy modalities primarily include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy.  She has a “passion for people with disabilities and for helping them in any way she can.”  Most of her clients and coworkers describe her as “very kind hearted and very knowledgeable about the mental health field.”  Tina is commonly referred to as the “Queen of Resources” because she is a “plethora of information.”

WHY FBR?

"I work for Family Behavioral Resources because they have afforded me the opportunity to develop an Outpatient Clinic that is truly client and employee centered where every individual is treated with respect and dignity.  The clients' with whom I work are what drives me to continue in the field of mental health.  I feel honored when I am able to help someone achieve a personal goal.”
