Christine L. Sheffey, MSW, Corporate Director of Autism Services

Christine is the Corporate Director of Autism Services for FBR, who assists our Chief Operating Officer in leading a team of passionate individuals with diverse experiences in treating persons with ASDs.

Shortly after joining the FBR family in 2004 as a Behavioral Specialist Consultant (BSC), she quickly moved into the role of Autism Coordinator. A year later, she was promoted to the role of Regional Director of Autism Services, and currently serves the Monroeville, North Hills, and Cranberry offices while fulfilling her duties as a member of the Senior Management Team. She specializes in treatment based in Applied Behavior Analysis, with special interest in Applied Verbal Behavior.

Prior to her roles with FBR, she served as a Youth and Outreach Coordinator, a Therapeutic Camp Facilitator, and Therapeutic Support Staff (TSS). She received her MSW from the University of Pittsburgh.

In addition to her extensive clinical support to the agency and our consumers, Christine facilitates three support groups in collaboration with ABOARD, has presented at numerous workshops including the California University of Pennsylvania P.E.P. Rally, and has provided training and consultation to school districts in Allegheny and surrounding counties. She has volunteered for the Greater Pittsburgh Walk Now for Autism Planning Committee for the past three years as the Co-Chair of the Awards Reception, and led the efforts for the first ever Grand Club that recognizes persons who raised over $1000 for autism research. Christine also participates in annual fundraisers for the FBR H.O.P.E. for Tomorrow Team, and organizes an annual staff event for the cause.

She is continuing her professional development by attending classes at the University of Pittsburgh to pursue certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.

In 2009, Christine was elected to serve as Vice-President and Secretary of the Board for The FBR Foundation.

Christine resides with her family in Allegheny County.

WHY FBR?

“It has been an amazing and fulfilling experience to be a part of an agency that is committed not only to its consumers, but also its employees. My life has been enriched by the amazing children and families that have shared their journey with me. It is a journey that has brought laughter and tears, and sometimes laughter through the tears. When I reflect on these past five years, my heart is filled with all of the successes that my kids have achieved, because they are my heroes!”
