Dawn M. Orange, RN, Director of Human Resources
Dawn has served as the Director of Human Resources for our organization for over ten years, leading a department that supports over 1000 employees across Pennsylvania.
Within her role, she wears many “hats” which includes but is by no means limited to recruitment activities, personnel file maintenance, workers compensation, unemployment compensation, benefit administration, development and implementation of companywide policy and forms manuals and initial and ongoing compliance with all associated regulatory bodies.
An additional role that Dawn holds within FBR include the development, implementation and chairing of the Risk Management Committee, which is responsible for the overall health and safety of all FBR offices. The committee is comprised of members for each individual FBR office across PA. The committee is responsible for development of the FBR Emergency Preparedness Plans, identifying causes, trends and actions for improvements needed, and the committee is also responsible for developing trainings and monthly safety in-services. She is also a member of the FBR Quality Council, is a Payroll Supervisor and also assists Clinical Directors with staffing utilization.
Before coming to FBR, Dawn, also a Registered Nurse (RN), was employed for over 20 years in the Home Care / Private Duty Field. She began as a fulltime field Case Manager and worked her way up to a Director of Clinical Services position in which she had direct oversight of several homecare offices in Western Pennsylvania. With almost 20 years of experience in health care, Dawn brings a wealth of knowledge, as well as compassion, to her role.
WHY FBR?
My story is unlike most of those working for FBR. I was approached by my dear friends, the Josephs, to join FBR initially as a member of Quality Assurance (QA). Up until that point, I had an understanding of just outpatient clinics, having employed and supervised psychiatric nurses in the homecare field, but knew very little about BHRS (“wraparound”) services. Needing a change after about six months, I accepted their offer and needed to quickly learn as much as I could about BHRS since my job would be ensuring the delivery of quality services according to Medicaid guidelines. I only worked in the QA Department for about four months, but it helped me gain valuable insight about the wonderful services provided in both the OP and BHRS offices.
Within four months of signing on with FBR, the company demonstrated such tremendous growth, that the need arose for a full-time Director of Human Resources Because of my past experience managing Medicare/Medicaid offices, I was offered and thus accepted the new position. This was the birth of FBR’s Human Resources Department! Here I am, 10 years later and we continue to grow in numbers beyond belief.
When asked if I ever regret leaving the nursing world for the “FBR World”, there are times when I miss nursing. No sooner than those thoughts occur, however, I get a call from one of our managers starting off a phone call with, ‘Hey “DO,” I’ve got a nursing question for you!” or… “I have a worker’s compensation question!” So, I truly have the best of both worlds!
