Dr. Jerry Joseph, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of FBR

Dr. Joseph, the president and CEO of FBR, has extensive experience in the health care industry, including mental health services. During the 1980s he was part of a system including inpatient psychiatric services, drug and alcohol detoxification and recovery. During the 1990s as CEO of an acute care hospital he significantly expanded the hospitals' child and adolescent unit and brought in a geriatric psychiatric unit. He started FBR in 1999 as a psychiatric outpatient clinic in Fayette County and from that beginning expanded it into the multi-county system of offices and services that FBR now offers throughout western Pennsylvania.
His educational background includes an M.S. in Finance from the George Washington University, a Masters in Healthcare Administration from the University of Pittsburgh, and a PhD in the organizational behavior area and strategic planning. In relation to this background Dr. Joseph believes that the best strategy for success is to provide the highest quality services in the field. This is achieved through hiring the best people available, training them well, and continuing to assess and improve the quality of services provided.
Dr. Joseph says that his career could have gone in a number of different directions. He is happy, now, that he chose this path. He believes that helping children with autism or with behavioral problems live a better and more fulfilled life is a privilege, not a job. Dr. Joseph and his family reside in Westmoreland County.
WHY FBR?
During the ten years that FBR has been in existence, there have been many, many positive experiences. Probably, though, the most meaningful is when we can take a child on the autism spectrum who is locked in his/her world without any interaction with family or other environment, and with appropriate therapy and training, create a bridge for communication and sharing of experiences. In some success stories the child may even enter school, cease needing services, and enjoy and thrive in the school experience. In essence, we have been privileged to help give the world back to this child. To be able to do this is a wonderful thing beyond measure.”
